“A Letter to the Past” is a participatory art project that goes beyond a simple performance, seeking both personal psychological healing and a sense of communal solidarity.Participants write letters expressing gratitude, apology, anger, or words they wish to say to their younger selves. These letters are placed into mailboxes installed along a path illuminated by 250 candles. At the end of the day, all the letters are gathered and burned. As the ashes rise and scatter into the sky, the unspoken emotions are symbolically sent back to the past.
The project is guided by a facilitator, and participants experience a ritual of “letting go” accompanied by the sound of bells. The gentle music performed by musicians creates a meditative and reflective atmosphere, completing the experience.
